On Tuesday 19 October 2010, approximately 120 special guest – parish priests, parish representatives and LifeLink agency directors and generous donors, were welcomed by Bishop Sproxton to St Mary’s Cathedral for the annual Liturgical Launch of the Archbishop’s Christmas Appeal for LifeLink.

Archbishop Hickey was in Rome attending the Canonisation of St Mary MacKillop and unable to attend this year’s service, which I am sure he will be sorry to have missed, because it was a fantastic evening.

Sr Kerry Willison designed a beautiful liturgical service which included an actor playing the role of Mary MacKillop interacting with Bishop Don, which really had an impact on the attending guests.

This annual event provides an opportunity for the Archbishop and Bishop to express their thanks to parish priests and parish representatives, for their outstanding support of this important appeal each year.

Did you know??? Over 60% of LifeLink’s annual funding provisions for the social service agencies of the Archdiocese, is raised from generous contributions received from the Archbishop’s Christmas Appeal…

In addition, they are afforded the first glimpse of the Archbishop’s Christmas Message to Parishioners.

It is the parish priests and parish appeal representatives, who make possible the Archbishop’s Christmas Appeal being launched in every parish in the Archdiocese on Appeal Weekend.

We couldn’t do it without them!

Following the service, guests enjoyed hospitality in the new Cathedral Parish Centre, thanks to the generous (part) sponsorship provided by our good friends from:
